I Support Open-Source and Free Software! ...

Starting with SourceForge, The internet's largest Open-Source community website. LOTS of great projects!

Mozilla Firefox, in my opinion, is one the BEST internet browsers out there! I have used Firefox for several years and the old Mozilla Suite before that. I loved how easy it was to setup, and then just enjoy surfing the net, especially with the new look and feel. There are many great plugins, extensions, and themes you can download and install, right from the browser! I especially love the AdBlocker Plus and NoScript plugins just for the fact that they helped make my own web-surfing experience enjoyable! I will NEVER go back to my old browser!!! ( Best of all: IT'S FREE!!! ) * * * * *
Here's a great replacement for Microsoft Outlook(tm)(r) - Thunderbird is a great email client that allows you to view, store, move, compose, send, and delete email from your email account ( if it supports protocols like POP3, IMAP, etc. ). You can even have it automatically sign in on multiple accounts and retrieve all of your email! This is a great companion program to Firefox. I couldn't think of anything better for handling my email needs. Try it out today, you may be hooked like I was and am now! * * * *
SeaMonkey is a very nice Page-composing-editing program based on the older Netscape series page composer. Is it any wonder that this program fills the bill just nicely when you need an easy-to-use program for your web needs! It has built in CSS ( Cascading Style Sheets ) and supports JavaScript(tm) nicely, especially if you are looking to produce those fancy DHTML web pages. This program is definitely worth a look-see! See what you think. Give it a try today! * * * *
What can I say? This neat little gem has all the features of the built in Paintbrush(tm) program, plus more that should have been included in the prior! This program packs some really nice, useful features for those graphics projects you have been waiting to finish. You really should try out Paint.Net ( Paint-Dot-Net ) and see what it can do for you. I know I love it! * * * *
The Gimp is really something! It can be a great help where you need to do some photo retouching, graphics format conversions, and other neat special effects. I like to use some of the features to create great logos and game graphics. Gimp is used by many in the open source community to produce and modify their graphics for their own programs! This one is just packed full of features and does a nice job with the support of MANY graphics formats. WOW! You ought to check it out just to see for yourself, rather than take all of my word for it! * * * *
Here is perhaps one of the BEST office suites I have seen in a long time! What sold me on it ( No. it IS FREE! ) is the fact that not only does it support many document formats, like all of those used by a certain commercial program, but you can also EXPORT to PDF's ( Adobe-type documents ) and even create FLASH-type animations from your presentation editor ( Impress )! I absolutely love using this suite! It can also do web pages as well as databases and spreadsheets. These folks have out done themselves time and again! There are even some good document templates to help you get good-looking professional letters, memos, presentations and such. This one is definitely worth downloading and using, just my opinion! * * * * *
Here is one of the best BASICs I have come across. The editor's user interface makes editing your projects and code so simple, if you have done very much programming with IDEs. I like the fact that FreeBASIC is powerful enough to create some really nice applications and games and such! It is so wonderful that it even comes with some neat graphics-primitives and functions. You could be up and running in no time; creating your next masterpiece! * * * *
This is a great archiving utility that does a wonderful job creating your compressed archives. It has the BEST compression ratio compared to all other archivers I have tried. You can even incorporate the compression library ( a separate download of the SDK ) so that your applications can produce and extract from their own archive files! This is a great little utility that keeps getting better all the time! * * * *
The "Official Hamster Republic Role-Playing Game Creator Engine" is a mouthful to say, but a great program that helps creating your RPG-style games go a whole lot easier. There is even a demo game to give you the feel of what quality games this program can have you creating. So, if you want to create the next great "Final Fantasy(tm)-style game, here you go! Give this one a try and see what you think. I have already seen some of the available games produced by this game-creation system. You are only limited by your imagination! * * * *
